Yahoo und die Blogger - Bald "Bloghoo" oder "YaBlogg"?

Bei Spegel online gesehen: Yahoo will verstärkt ins Blog-Geschäft einsteigen.

Blogging Afghanistan - Afghan Warrior

Afghanistan's first blog
I would like to say hello to all bloggers. My name is Waheed. I am a 20 year old male from Afghanistan and I have been working with the US Army in Kabul, Afghanistan as an interpreter for the last 2 years. Our base is located inside the ANA (Afghan National Army) Central Corps and the US officers train the ANA.

I would like to thank my friend Paul Edwards who persuaded me to start my blog and send the real news from Afghanistan. The situation in Afghanistan is getting better day by day. There are still some fights in the southern provinces and also near the Pakistan border. The ANA and US Army fight against them, but the enemy is weak and they just carry out guerilla attacks and then escape.... (Quelle: AfghanWarrior)

Podcasting + Flashmobs = Mobcasting

Schon etwas älterer, allerdings nicht minder interessanter Beitrag von Andy Carvin zu "Mobcasting":

I've been thinking a lot about podcasting over the last few weeks, particularly in terms of the role podcasting can play as a tool for civic engagement and citizen journalism. To date, many of the podcasts you'll find online today tend to be oriented towards discussing technology, entertainment and the like.

A few pioneers like Brian Russell of AudioActivism.org have started to challenge us to think about ways the medium can be used for positive social change, but otherwise, notions of civic engagement have just begun to enter podcasting discourse.

Help Wanted to Expand Free Speech Globally

A group that wants to assist free speech in authoritarian nations is looking for a technically savvy person -- a CTO or lead engineer type -- who can do a short term study, possibly leading to a longer-term job. This is a paying gig for the right person.

The project is intended, in its intitial form, to make possible blogging that is impossible (or at least extremely difficult) to trace. One of the people involved calls it an "anonymous, anti-tyranny blogging service."

CatholicInsider: Podcasting from the Vatican

Hi there, I'm father Roderick, and I'm happy to present the first podcast from CatholicInsider.com. In my podcasts, I'll give you an insider's report on everything you've always wanted to know about the Catholic faith but were afraid to ask :-).

And what better place to kick off my podcast-adventure than the heart of the Roman-Catholic Church itself: the Vatican. I'm normaly working in the Netherlands, but I'm currently in Rome for a convention in the Vatican about the Church and the Media.

Apropos Iranische Weblogs:

AlertNet mit einem interessanten Artikel über Blogs in Iran:

"We finally have a way to find out how others in our society think," blogger Bahman Kalbasi (Weblog: World Citizen) said, "whereas before even if each one of us was opposed to the traditions, parts of religion, or the regime, we had no way of knowing how others think and how many people shared our concerns. Through blogs, we now have a big community of young Iranians that has so many things in common. Before, we didn't know how to practice democracy although we demanded it in the governmental level. Now we read each others blogs, we disagree and we survive; no one has to be eliminated just because we disagree." Another blogger noted, "Has everyone noticed the spooky absence of Graffiti in our public toilets since the arrival of weblogs? Remember the toilets at university we used to call our 'Freedom Columns'?"
