Iranian Truth im Interview mit Brooding Persian

I live in Tehran, and meander a great deal. I simply got tired of writing long letters to friends abroad about the situation in Iran and started a blog. Initially the objective was to let others get a glimpse of life here through my eyes. In time, it became a way for me to engage more seriously with others about political matters and now, I use my blog to brood, and to practice writing and to express myself and my concerns about life, politics and other matters large and small. A way to bounce ideas off others really, and also to evaluate my own assumptions and conclusions by putting them out there for others to criticize and to establish bonds with fellow explorers and ultimately to stop myself from going insane living here.

Interessantes Interview mit dem Blogger hinter Brooding Persian bei Iranian Truth:

He is planning a series involving different Iranian Bloggers with Pejman Yousefzadeh and Sima Shakhsari coming up soon. Nice idea and many thanks to Nema for his efforts.

EarthCore: the world's first podcast-only novel by Scott Sigler

EarthCore is the world's first podcast-only novel: you can't find it in stores, you can't download the full audio, and the only way to find out what happens is to subscribe to the podcast. My goal is to generate 5,000 subscribers to this book, which will demonstrate the power of Podcasting and generate attention from publishers.

This novel is a cross between episodic modern-action fare like "24" and classic sci-fi movies like Predator and Starship Troopers.

Aufruf: SwissBlogs Needs Your Help

SwissBlogs, one of the best-known Swiss blog directories, has become too much for one person (me) to maintain, even with a little help (Matt). Plus, you all know by now, that if I’m pretty good at having ideas and launching stuff, I’m much less good at keeping them going. I guess that’s just who I am.

I am therefore looking for motivated (and multilingual!) people to help me keep this directory going, and improve it (it has hardly changed since I quickly threw a few lines of dirty code together over 18 months ago).

I would like to put together a team of 5-6 people.

NewsMashing wird das Bloggen für immer verändern

Lesernswerter Artikel von Baul Boutin im Slate:

Why is newsmashing better than today's blogging techniques? Currently, political bloggers write a post by taking a snippet from a news story, an op-ed column, or another blog post. Then, they copy, paste, and indent the most partisan, disingenuous, and inaccurate passage onto their own blog and add a bulletproof rebuttal right below. The problem with this technique is that it makes the readers do all the work. First, they need to pop the original piece open in another window to "read the whole thing." After that, they have to flip back and forth between the original and the rebuttal to make sure the blogger isn't getting the facts wrong, leaving out a key detail, or quoting something out of context. Wouldn't it be a whole lot easier to read blogs if you could look at the critique and the original argument at the same time? (Quelle: Newsmashing - The new technique that will change blogging forever by Paul Boutin /Slate )

I'm actually seeking participants for a user trial I just started, where users read and mark up New York Times articles. Mehr dazu hier: Newsmashing for real - volunteers wanted

As mashes get newsmashed, and more newsmashers newsmash those mashes in turn, the end result will be a convergence of visually mashed-up news that encapsulates all human knowledge, asymptotically approaches truth, and seamlessly morphs into a book deal and keynote speaker gigs for yours truly.

PopeCast und neues Layout beim CatholicInsider

Podcasting from the Heart of the Catholic Church by Father Roderick Vonhögen

Neues Layout beim CatholicInsider alias Father Roderick Vonhögen:

Since I sold my iPod Shuffle to a priest in Rome, I bought a new iPod, an iPod mini 6 Gb. Inspired by Apple's great design, I decided to do an overhaul of the general layout of CatholicInsider.com. I played with the silhouette theme, but instead of a white iPod, there's a white Roman collar :-)

Hi, this is Paul Edwards from Australia. Waheed gets me to correct the English on his posts. Please don't comment on this post because I am going to delete it after a couple of days because I don't want it polluting a beautiful Afghan blog, so your comments will be deleted as well.

Waheed really needs a laptop and a digital camera, but he's too shy to ask for it. Two people offered a digital camera, but they didn't provide an email contact. If you have either of these two items available, could you please send an email to Waheed. (waheedjan2001@yahoo.com)

The items can be posted to a US address (which will be provided) which will get through to Waheed's US boss in the military. Also, PayPal has been added to the account, thanks to Tom Villars.

It costs Waheed US$3/hour to access the internet and he doesn't get paid very much (he told me how much but I don't know if he wants that info to be made public). He has been spending a lot of time online trying to assemble the news, because he doesn't have the ability to do it offline.
