Immerhin 1,5 Prozent der Nutzer gaben zu, gleich den ganzen Monitor vom Tisch gefegt oder den PC absichtlich fallen gelassen zu haben. Zwei Drittel berichteten, ihrem Computer gegenüber gelegentlich laut zu werden. Die Auswertung der Fragebögen belege, dass viele Menschen ihren PC nicht als Maschine sehen, sondern als Wesen.

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over talent and craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.

Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.

The main criticism of blogging, however, is that there's no editing function in this medium. Blogs can easily degenerate into little more than rumor mills, or sites where one vents, but does not inform.

Not so fast, say blogging advocates. Bloggers now watch other bloggers and can correct factual errors instantly, either by posting better information on their own sites or simply by posting a comment at the offender's site.

Conscientious bloggers can also make additions to an ongoing story as fresh information becomes available. The most scrupulous bloggers dutifully post links to their source data in an effort to back up whatever claims they're making.

"Bloggers point to the Dan Rather fiasco. He had a whole lot of editors, and look what happened to him," said Claybourn.

..... Mittagspause mit Kreolischer Suppe. ;-) aus der Suppen-Bar. Einfach wunderbar. Und gibt Lust nachzukochen...

Kreolische Suppe
Zutaten für vier bis sechs Portionen
150 g Zwiebeln
2 Knoblauchzehen
1 rote Paprikaschote
350 g junger Spinat
300 g Kartoffeln
3 EL Olivenöl
1 l Geflügelfond oder -brühe
400 ml ungesüsste Kokosmilch
4 Zweige Thymian
1 Bund Frühlingszwiebeln
3 rote Chilischoten
300 g Garnelen (ohne Kopf und Schale)
Salz, weisser Pfeffer
Limettensaft nach Geschmack

Zubereitung
Zwiebeln und Knoblauch pellen und fein würfeln. Paprika vierteln, entkernen und fein würfeln. Spinat putzen, gründlich in kaltem Wasser waschen, trockenschleudern und in Stücke zupfen. Die Kartoffeln waschen, schälen und vierteln.

Das Öl in einem Topf erhitzen und die Zwiebeln- und Knoblauchwürfel darin bei mittlerer Hitze drei Minuten ohne Farbe anschwitzen. Paprika, Spinat und Kartoffeln dazugeben, eine weitere Minute unter Rühren dünsten. Geflügelfond und Kokosmilch dazugiessen, Thymian dazugeben und die Suppe zum Kochen bringen. 25 Minuten leise kochen lassen.

Frühlingszwiebeln putzen und das Weisse und Hellgrüne in feine Streifen schneiden. Chilischoten längs halbieren, entkernen und hacken. Beides mit den Garnelen zur Suppe geben. Die Thymianzweige entfernen, die Suppe erneut aufkochen und weitere zehn Minuten garen, anschliessend mit Salz, Pfeffer und Limettensaft würzen.
