Das Institute for Cyberinformation der Kent State University hat in einem speziellen Projekt den Versuch unternommen, Zeitungsausgaben mittels pdf auch multimedial zu "bestücken".

A key feature of the Newsbook is that it has pages, just like a newspaper or magazine. There's no scrolling, like on the Web. The photos and graphics are in stunning color, and they're not separate from the story. They're positioned where they best relate to the reader, just as we try to do in print. The reading experience is comparable to the experience of reading a newspaper. But with video and audio, it also "talks."

Print it out, and it looks like a high-quality glossy magazine. While the Newsbook is what we at the Rocky have to offer now, Roger also has used the same software to develop a portable electronic edition of a newspaper in a page-based format.

Was hier im Mai von der BBC angekündigt wurde, ist nun online: BBC - iCan - Couch Potatoes sind nicht mehr gefragt... ;-)

Local communities taking politics into their own hands can now get help from a civic action website from the BBC. Launched this week, iCan provides online guides, message boards and tools for local campaign action.

"It gives people a starting point in civic life and puts them in touch with others who share their concerns", said iCan project leader Martin Vogel. The project is part of a politics initiative by the BBC to help people with issues make a difference.

Mr Vogel said the launch of iCan was a significant change for public service broadcasting because it was about encouraging people to get involved rather than sitting back and watching politics happen.
