The Pew Internet & American Life Project's September-October 2005 survey
of 2,251 Americans showed that:

In the aftermath of the Gulf Coast Hurricanes, 13 million Americans made donations to relief efforts online and 7 million set up their own hurricane relief efforts using the internet.

In addition to using the internet to respond directly to the crisis, 50% of online users sought out news and information online, with most (73%) of their newsgathering happening at Web sites of the mainstream media. Sources such as blogs and international news sites served as important news supplements, with one quarter of those who got Katrina news online turning to one of these sources.

* The number of Americans who say they've ever made a donation to
charity online grew by 53% in our latest survey compared to January
2005.

* 4% of internet users, or approximately 6 million Americans, say they
posted
comments, links, or pictures pertaining to the hurricanes to chat
rooms, bulletin boards, or blogs.

* 9% of internet users, or approximately 13 million Americans, used the
interet or email to check on the safety of someone who might have been
affected by the hurricanes.

Das Internet und die CCG: Eine Content Creating Generation

Die neuste Internet-Studie des Pew Internet & American Life Project wurde veröffentlicht:

American teenagers today are utilizing the interactive capabilities of the internet as they create and share their own media creations. Fully half of all teens and 57% of teens who use the internet could be considered Content Creators.

Some key findings:

* 33% of online teens share their own creative content online, such as

aibo

Sony's robotic pup Aibo gives new meaning to the term newshound. In its latest evolution Aibo ERS-7M3/T has the ability for short-term memory mapping and news reads through a version of web syndication-- RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds. "With one simple voice command Aibo can read the morning's headline news while its owner folds the laundry," said Toshi Kawai, senior manager of Entertainment Robot America (ERA), a division of Sony Electronics in a prepared statement. The AIBO Net News reader capability enables the robot to read its owner news or weather from a choice of RSS feeds available on many websites.

Puppy also comes loaded with the AIBO Diary in case owners want to know what he is up to while they are out of the house. Aibo can take pictures and add notes on its daily activities to its diary. (Yes but what if he's lying?) The diary can be shared by uploading entries directly to a blog site. The dog has its own blog now.
