Pointblog berichtet, dass auf der Blog-Plattform der Zeitung Le Monde eine Sperrfrist für die französische PräsidentInnenwahl eingeführt wurde. Beim öffnen des Admin-Programms wird der Blogger mit einer Meldung daran erinnert, dass es untersagt ist :

"interdit de publier et/ou de diffuser, la veille et le jour de chaque élection, tout sondage et résultat partiel ou définitif avant la fermeture des bureaux de vote et la fin du scrutin."

und weiter:

"Sont concernés par cette mesure : toute information et/ou lien hypertexte (y compris vers un site Internet hébergé à l'étranger) publié dans les billets de blogs ou les lignes de commentaires apportés par les lecteurs. Nous vous invitons à respecter cette obligation. Merci de votre compréhension."

The State of the News Media 2007 is the fourth edition of our annual report on the health and status of American journalism. Its goal is to gather in one place as much data as possible about all the major sectors of journalism, to identify trends, mark key indicators, note areas for further inquiry and provide a resource for citizens, journalists, and researchers.

This year, we also offer a detailed report on the status of online journalism, based on a close quantitative examination of a diverse sample of news websites. “Digital Journalism: A Topography” identifies what qualities of the web are being emphasized and which are not.

Journalism is on a fast-paced, transformative journey, its destination still unknown. That the Web and other media technologies are affecting mightily the practice of journalism is beyond dispute. Less clear is any shared vision of what the future holds. Newsrooms are being hollowed out, and editors who resist such cutbacks are losing their jobs. Digital video cameras and tape recorders replace reporters' notebooks as newspapers—and other news organizations—train staff in multimedia storytelling. In this issue, words about journalists' experiences in the digital era transport our vision forward, while our eye takes us on a visual voyage back to a time when newspapers wove communities together.

Berechtigte Fragen von Martin Hitz im Medienspiegel als Reaktion auf den Artikel «Zeitungen sind mehr als Papier» von Beat Gygi in der «NZZ» vom Samstag. (NZZ-Artikel leider nicht online zugänglich), aber dafür der Eintrag aus dem Medienspiegel: Mehr Mut zum Risiko, liebe NZZ!

"Aber wo ist denn die «NZZ» in diesem papierlosen Raum namens Internet? Warum, tammi nomol, versucht die NZZ AG denn da nicht mitzutun? Weshalb zum Beispiel erscheint der Medienspiegel in den Google-Trefferlisten oft noch vor der «NZZ»?

Oder weshalb werde ich immer noch nicht täglich per E-Mail mit einer Liste der im Blatt erscheinenden Kommentare versorgt – mit Links zu den jeweiligen Texten, selbstverständlich? Weshalb erhalte ich keine E-Mails mit den Themen der verschiedenen Beilagen? Und wo sind die Listen mit den «most e-mailed» und «most blogged about» Artikeln?"

Nicht neu und auch nicht nur ein "Problem" der NZZ ,....und doch kann man es nie genügend oft wiederholen ...

Cyberjournalist.net vermeldet, dass:

Washington Post Executive Editor Leonard Downie, Jr. announced several changes this week "to maximize readership of the printed newspaper, build audience on the Web site and further reduce costs in the newsroom" including a plan to "shrink" the newspaper staff via attrition.

Every journalist graduating from school today needs to understand the importance of hyperlinks in the online environment, and the ways that online stories can be enhanced using audio, video, Flash, PDF source documents, or user-generated materials. They need to know the importance of the community of users, and how crucial engagement is in the survival of their news operations.

I really think print journalists should know how to record and edit audio and compose and take decent photographs (even short videos) at a bare minimum, and know how to insert hyperlinks into a news story. But knowing those skills won't make you a journalist, any more than knowing how to boil an egg will make you a chef.
