A group that wants to assist free speech in authoritarian nations is looking for a technically savvy person -- a CTO or lead engineer type -- who can do a short term study, possibly leading to a longer-term job. This is a paying gig for the right person.

The project is intended, in its intitial form, to make possible blogging that is impossible (or at least extremely difficult) to trace. One of the people involved calls it an "anonymous, anti-tyranny blogging service."

Heute wieder einmal bei Cybis Lieblings-Suppenbar (die neuerdings auch Salat führt), vorbeigeschlendert,...


Rote Linsensuppe

200 g rote Linsen
1 Bund Frühlingszwiebeln oder 3 große geschnittene Zwiebeln
5 feingehackte Knoblauchzehen
1 kleiner Bund Korianderblätter, ersatzweise feingeschnittene Petersilie
2 L Fleisch- oder Gemüsebrühe1 TL Rosenpaprika, 1/2 TL Cumin, 1/2 TL Curry, 1/4 TL gemahlener Koriander, eine Prise Muskat, Pepperoni nach Belieben
2 El Öl, Pfeffer, Salz

Die Zwiebeln in Öl andünsten, den Knoblauch kurz mit anrösten. Korianderblätter mit den gewaschenen Linsen hinzufügen. Unter Rühren erhitzen, dann mit der Brühe ablöschen. Gewürze beigeben und 25-30 Minuten kochen lassen. Etwas von den frischen Kräutern als Dekoration über die Suppe streuen.

Pseudonym statt Edelfeder heisst ein interessanter Artikel der TAZ über die Rheinische Post und ihr Opinio-Projekt, ein Magazin von Lesern für Leser.

Wer einen Blick in die Erstausgabe wirft, bekommt eine lifestyle-lastige Themenmischung aus Fußball, Fitness, Kino und Kochen mit lokalen Themen geboten. Für engagierte politische Diskussionen ist kein Platz.

Die ausgewählten Beiträge sind gründlich redigiert und gekürzt worden. So magazinig kommt der Neuling daher, dass man beim Durchblättern glatt vergessen könnte, dass die Artikel nicht von einer festen Redaktion stammen. Die Pseudonyme und Namen der Autoren sind leicht zu übersehen. Nur, wer weiterführende Internet-Verweise sucht, wird enttäuscht.

Es fehlt der Ansatz, die Stärken des Online-Pendants ins Print hinüberzuretten. Ein gedrucktes Opinio, das bloß nackte Beiträge aus dem Web in ein Zeitschriftenlayout stopft, verkauft sich unter Wert.

Das Schweizer Medienmagazin KLARTEXT berichtet auf Seite 38 unter dem Titel "Beobachtete BaZ" (Leider nicht online verfügbar) über die Gesammelten Bazismen.

Die akribische Suche nach Schwurbel und Sprachmonstern kann aber auch in Spitzfindigkeit münden. Das ist dann der Fall, wenn der Leser selbst nach mehrmaliger Lektüre nicht entdecken kann, wo sich der Bazismus gerade versteckt hält.

Weblogs are a great tool--but introduce them willy-nilly into organizations without understanding the ramifications, and you will get a willy-nilly result. That's sort of the definition of a disruptive technology, isn't it? Unfortunately, some of blogging's most influential promoters don't seem to fully understand that they have a tiger by the tail.

Journalists are most culpable for what happened here. By reporting on the blogstorm without bothering to verify facts or to take responsibility for the charges being made--and mainstream media often does this with charges made by highly questionable sources--they gave the incident credibility it would never have had otherwise.

Traditional media will respond "It was being reported elsewhere--we were just reporting that it was being reported!" I would answer: "Grow up. With the emergence of the blogosphere, speculation is a commodity.

Traditional journalism's most important role remains the same: to report the facts, as best they are known, without being gamed by those who have an agenda.

And when reporters disdain bloggers, I remind them that they are dismissing the public they seek to serve."
