The End of Radio ,............ (as we know it) by Wired Magazine

cover_wired_190
"The End of Radio" titelt das Wired Magazine,.....und fügt noch rasch hinzu "as we know it...". die Rede ist u.a. von Podcasting und Adam Curry resp. dailysourcecode.com und auch http://www.ipodder.org/.

He's gone from MTV to MP3, and now he's leading a grassroots rebellion called podcasting. Why amateurs may soon rule the airwaves.

IQ = Irak im Internet

Iraq is making its first claim for an internationally recognized presence on the Internet.
Iraq's media commission and the U.S.-led administration in Iraq want to set up Web addresses using the domain code ".IQ" as the final tag. That would mean addresses for Web pages would be distinctively identified on the Internet with Iraq's own country code.

Wer wird nächster Google-US-Präsident?

Interessanter Artikel der N.Y. Times über politisches Google-Bombing im Zusammenhang mit dem US-Präsidentschafts-Wahlkampf:

Time was - say, two months ago - when typing the phrase "miserable failure" into the Google search box produced an unexpected result: the White House's official biography of President George W. Bush.

But now the president has a fight on his hands for the top ranking - from former President Jimmy Carter, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and the author-filmmaker Michael Moore.

The unlikely electoral battle is being waged through "Google bombing," or manipulating the Web's search engines to produce, in this case, political commentary. Unlike Web politicking by other means, like hacking into sites to deface or alter their message, Google bombing is a group sport, taking advantage of the Web-indexing innovation that led Google to search-engine supremacy.

Fakten und Fiktion - "FactCheck" und "The Campaign Desk"

US-Präsidentschaftswahlkampf unter der Lupe - Zwei Webseiten für eine Trennung von Fakten und Fiktion: "The Campaign Desk" und "FactCheck"

For the next eleven months, no matter how much you may wish for relief, it will be virtually impossible to escape politics. Ad campaigns - and budgets - that make Madison Avenue green with joy. Candidates trying to get interviewed by anyone with a microphone (the only time they'll be this accessible). Local and national news coverage in every medium from network television to one-man weblogs.

And though this may come as a shock, some of the information disseminated during this period may not be entirely accurate. Purely accidental of course - politicians would never aim to mislead or deceive, and wouldn't want us to vote for them if they did (I hope you appreciate that I'm keeping a straight face as I type this) - but there is such a thing as healthy skepticism, and this week's websites will help you to separate fact from fiction during the campaigns of '04.
