Blogs provide independence in that no one's permission is needed to write or publish a blog. But writing on the web demands interdependence. You are dependent on other bloggers, for example, to build traffic and create diaglog. So the promise is that journalists might see themselves as independent, but also interdependent on the audiences they serve.
