"Future News - Zukunft für die Ohren": Der PODCAST aus dem Zukunftsinstitut

Podcasts sind in aller Munde. Jetzt gibt es auch Nachrichten aus dem Zukunftsinstitut zum Hören. Das Zukunftsinstitut präsentiert ab sofort regelmäßig eigene Audio-Sendungen - Unternehmensradio als MP3-Download oder als kostenfreies RSS-Feed-Abonnement über den iTunes-Podcatcher (mehr zu technischen Details des Podcasting unter: www.podcast.de).

Die Podshow "Future News", moderiert und konzipiert von Andreas Haderlein, liefert Unterhaltsames und Informatives für Kunden, Zukunftsinteressierte und Journalisten:
- Informationen zu aktuellen Studien
- Autoren- und Referenteninterviews
- Vortrags-Mitschnitte und Hinweise auf aktuelle Veranstaltungen des Zukunftsinstituts
- Hörtexte aus Print-Publikationen
- Und vieles mehr ...

Voraussetzung für den "Empfang" des Podcasts ist ein handelsüblicher PC oder MAC mit Internetzugang und Soundkarte. Die MP3-Sounddateien können darüber hinaus auf einen MP3-Player wie den iPod übertragen werden - für den schnellen Audio-Update im Auto, auf Reisen und in den Third Places.

Die 15- bis 25-minütigen Podcast-Shows ("Podshows") werden regelmäßig publiziert und als Download auf der Website verfügbar gemacht. So genannte Show-Notes helfen, die jeweiligen Audio-Inhalte schnell zu finden.

Anlässlich der Konferenz: "MEDIA CONVERGENCE: Cooperation, Collisions, and Change" (Co-sponsored by: Brigham Young University — University of South Carolina October 13-15, 2005 — Provo, Utah, USA) ist unter anderem auch Podcasting-Training angesagt:

Thursday morning, October 13, we will hold an intensive training session on Podcasting beginning at 8:30 AM, including instruction on:

• What podcasts are out there
• RSS feeds / content management systems
• Audio compression (mp3) techniques
• Recording hardware
• Audio software choices
• Audio editing
• Program formatting
• Licensing and copyright laws for podcasters
• And More!

Those participating in the training will create a series of Podcasts covering the conference. There is no charge for the training, but registration is limited to the first 15 people who confirm. Three iPod Shuffles will be raffled off, a great chance to win one! This training is open to others from your school who want to attend the conference as well--the only requirement is that they register for the conference.

Here's a suggestion: Create podcasts for every columnist. Have them record an audio version at the end of the editing process. It's an extra 5 minutes of work for them -- not a big deal -- yet serves people who prefer audio over the written word, and creates a new advertising vehicle for the newspaper and its website.

There are several points worth making about the value podcasting can offer newspapers.

First, anyone can do it. The list represents a wide diversity of newspapers. You don't have to be the New York Times to do audio. (I don't think the Times is podcasting. Is it?)

Second, it's low tech and it's cheap.

Third, it touches a different audience segment. (Of course, like any tool podcasts need good material and good promotion.)

Finally, and most important, podcasts require newspaper reporters and editors to jump platforms, to think in a different medium, to develop new skills. That's innovative. And, innovation breeds innovation.

Gerrit van Aaken Loudblog-Projekt verspricht Podcast-Interessierten ein kostenloses Content Management-System, das speziell auf die Tücken des Abonnier-Radios zugeschnitten ist. „Loudblog ist Podcasting für jedermann“, so van Aaken. „Wer sich lieber auf die Inhalte seiner Shows und nicht auf den Kampf mit der Technik konzentrieren möchte, ist bei Loudblog an der richtigen Adresse.“
